Discrete choice nonresponse

چکیده

Missing values are endemic in the data sets available to econometricians. This paper suggests a unified likelihood-based approach to deal with several nonignorable missing data problems for discrete choice models. Our concern is when either the dependent variable is unobserved or situations when both dependent variable and covariates are missing for some sampling units. These cases are also considered when a supplementary random sample of observations on all covariates is available. A unified treatment of these various sampling structures is presented using a formulation of the nonresponse problems as a modification of choice-based sampling. Extensions appropriate for nonresponse are detailed of Imbens’ (1992) efficient generalized method of moments (GMM) estimator for choice-based samples. Simulation evidence reveals very promising results for the various GMM estimators proposed in this paper. JEL Classification: C25, C51.

Discrete Choice Models for Nonmonotone Nonignorable Missing Data: Identification and Inference

Nonmonotone missing data arise routinely in empirical studies of social and health sciences, and when ignored, can induce selection bias and loss of efficiency. In practice, it is common to account for nonresponse under a missing-at-random assumption which although convenient, is rarely appropriate when nonresponse is nonmonotone. Likelihood and Bayesian missing data methodologies often require...

1985: Compensating for Wave Nonresponse in the 1979 Isdp Research Panel

The choice between weighting adjustments and imputation for handling missing survey data is generally straightforward: as a rule, weighting adjustments are used for total nonresponse and imputation is used for item nonresponses. There are, however, several situations where the choice is debatable. In general, these are situations of what might be termed partial nonresponse, where some data are ...

Nonresponse prediction in an establishment survey using combination of statistical learning methods

Nonrespose is a source of error in the survey results and national statistical organizations are always looking for ways to control and reduce it. Predicting nonrespons sampling units in the survey before conducting the survey is one of the solutions that can help a lot in reducing and treating the survey nonresponse. Recent advances in technology and the facilitation of complex calculations...

Case ascertainment uncertainties in prevalence surveys of Parkinson's disease.

Using unpublished data from five completed prevalence surveys of Parkinson's disease (PD), we investigated case ascertainment uncertainties that potentially have a direct effect on prevalence. These uncertainties arise from the choice of diagnostic criteria, the choice of screening method, and the amount of information lost because of nonresponse. The surveys were conducted in Argentina, India,...

The First Discrete Choice Experiment On Usage of Bypassing Agents in Hemophilic Patients in Iran

Background: Bleeding events in hemophilic patients with inhibitors are managed by bypassing agents. Currently available agents in Iran are recombinant activated factor VII (rfVIIa; Aryogen, Aryoseven) and Feiba (factor eight inhibitor bypassing agent). No standardized and accurate assay is currently available for monitoring the effectiveness of bypassing agents. We suggested that history of the...
